We need your help with these three bills in Sacramento!

ACR 21 – Watershed Awareness Month
Would proclaim the month of May to be Watershed Awareness Month. To support this bill, contact your state assemblymember or the bill sponsor Assemblywoman Lois Wolk

SB 658 – The Bay and Coastal Motor Vehicle Mitigation Program

Would authorize County Board of Supervisors, by majority vote, to augment the vehicle license fee by up to $6 to offset the coastal impacts of motor vehicles and their related infrastructure like roads and bridges. The Department of Motor Vehicles would collect the fee and transfer it to a fund administered by the State Coastal Conservancy. The Conservancy would give a portion of the fee directly to the County where collected and keep a portion for its projects in the County where collected.

To support this bill, contact your state senator or the bill sponsor, Senator Sheila Kuehl.

SB 857 - Migratory Fish Passage

Would direct CalTrans to complete surveys and assessments of its stream crossings on coastal streams. This effort would help federal, state, and local agencies prioritize the remediation of barriers to migration by species, such as the federally endangered Steelhead trout. On the South Coast, about 40 barriers are owned by CalTrans, including the keystone barrier along Rincon Creek at Highway 101. Having an accurate survey and assessment of these structures would be the first step toward attempting to remove or modify them.

To support this bill, contact your state senator or the bill sponsor, Senator Sheila Kuehl.
